BEST NEIGHBORHOODS – DAVIS SHORES & LIGHTHOUSE PARK

In this video I am introducing you to some of the best neighborhoods in St. Augustine FL on Anastasia Island just across the Bridge of Lions from Historic Downtown St. Augustine. Anastasia Florida is a barrier island that is full of great neighborhoods, restaurants, parks, and beaches. This video is a description of two of my favorites Davis Shores and Lighthouse Park.

Just across the bridge of Lions, Anastasia Blvd divides Davis Shores into South Davis Shores and North Davis Shores. This is great are for a few reasons. It’s walkable to downtown and the shops and cafes on Anastasia Blvd. It’s very close to Anastasia State Park and the Amphitheater, and the neighborhood is unique having been developed starting in the 1930s. You will find cottages, mid-century modern, Spanish style, and newer construction. This is a great neighborhood to walk and bike. Some of the homes are on the marsh, there’s mature landscaping and they just created a small community park.
One of my favorite streets is Inlet Drive in North Davis Shores. The houses are beautiful and again all unique but what I love are the glimpses of the Salt Run, Inlet, and Harbor.

The one negative about Davis Shores is it is in a Flood Zone so if you have a mortgage you will be required to purchase flood insurance. Some of the older homes were built at 6 feet above sea level and many flooded in Hurricane Matthew and Irma but there are many homes that are built at higher elevations than didn’t flood so you would just need to check the history of the house with your Realtor.
Homes sell in the high $200s and up from there depending on size, views, etc.

The other neighborhood I love is Lighthouse Park. This area sits at a higher elevation and does not sit in a Flood Zone but it’s located just across the way from Davis Shores and is also walking distance to town and Anastasia Blvd. The best thing about this neighborhood is the St. Augustine Lighthouse sits as a landmark in the center of this neighborhood. Having the lighthouse this close means you have access to the park which includes the boat ramp, tennis courts and if you are a member of the lighthouse you can have unlimited access and climb the lighthouse to take in the views anytime you want.

If you love to be on the water, the boat ramp gives you easy access to launch a kayak, paddleboard, or your motorboat to enjoy fishing, watching the dolphins or manatees and the many different birds.
This neighborhood is older, many of the houses are cottages, some are waterfront on the salt run, it’s quaint and a wonderful neighborhood to walk around.

Homes sell in the mid $300’s and up from there.
