Best Neighborhoods in St Augustine
We are touring a few of my favorite neighborhoods in St. Augustine’s North City today which is located just north of the downtowns historic district you will find Nelmar Terrace, Fullerwood and Hildreth Back Bay.
What I love about these neighborhoods are the proximity to downtown, the beaches, and the easy access to main roads while being able to avoid the downtown area during high tourist season.
I absolutely love the feel of this neighborhood. You’ll find big big oak canopies over the streets and a variety of period homes from post World War 1 through the Florida boom. There are many architectural styles found here which it seems is only found in the older neighborhoods these days. These communities are neighborly and even has a community garden.
Home Prices in this area range from $300k for something very small to $1 million and up for something on the water or marsh, so there is a broad range of homes here. The majority of this area is in a flood zone so if you do buy a house here using a mortgage you will be required to have flood insurance.
This area also have some wonderful shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries to enjoy and Fort Mose Historic State Park is close by which offers picnic areas, an observation and birding boardwalk, kayak launch, visitor center and museum. From Nelmar Terrace and parts of Fullerwood you can certainly walk to town or even Vilano beach if you have a couple of miles in you but most of the area is a little too far so having a bike is all you need.
This location puts you in the perfect location to enjoy everything St. Augustine.
